Although it's always dressed in scarlet and gray, Ohio State University is looking to go green. Working with students, Facilities Operations and Development and the College of Public Health, the school has relaunched a 2016 campaign called 22 x 22, which advocates making 22 campus laboratories “Green Buckeye Certified” by April 22. According to Ohio State, the university is among the top 30 users of "green power" in higher education, as recognized by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. ...

An action plan to help Columbus cope with climate change is almost complete. The Columbus Climate Change Action Plan will serve as a road map for city officials, nonprofit groups, businesses and residents as central Ohio begins to experience the effects, such as extreme heat waves, torrential rainfall, deteriorating air quality and flooding-related infrastructure damage. The public has through Friday to review and comment on the report, which was prepared by a team of Ohio State researchers and other experts and officials over the past year and a half. “We want to make sure everybody has a chance to weigh in, that there was no stone left unturned,” said Jason Cervenec, education and outreach director for Ohio State’s Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center. Simple-Fill Inc. has raised $1.7 million from Worthington Industries Inc. and other investors toward making its next generation of lower-cost natural gas compressors. The Ohio State University spinoff also has moved its operations to the Columbus plant of Parker Hannifin Corp. (NYSE:PH). The Cleveland-based manufacturer produces several components and has helped with engineering for the compressor, which uses liquid instead of thousands of spinning parts to compress the gas into usable vehicle fuel. ...
