If the 12 states that comprise the Midwest were a country, they would be the fifth-largest greenhouse gas-emitting nation on the planet. The Midwest has the potential to play an outsized role in the coming critical decade by lowering emissions, creating a thriving green economy, and ensuring a just and equitable transition that does not leave any of our rural, suburban, urban and indigenous communities behind.
Hosted by The Ohio State University and Washington University: St. Louis and supported by the Bloomberg Foundation, the virtual Midwest Climate Summit continues its Fall 2020 Think Tank program at 11 a.m. Oct. 23, Nov. 6 and Nov. 20, with plans for a large spring event. The Oct. 23 keynote speakers, Carla Frisch of the Rocky Mountain Institute and Delmar Gillus of Elevate Energy, will address “Ambition, Economics, and a Just Transition in the Midwest.”
The Think Tank sessions include an introduction topic and concurrent workshops on science and research; teaching and education; climate action; and outreach and engagement, with different topics each session.
