Elena Irwin, distinguished professor of food, agricultural, and environmental sciences in economics and sustainability and faculty director of the Sustainability Institute at Ohio State, has been selected as a 2022 Fellow of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (AERE), the association’s highest honor. Fellows are recognized for their outstanding contributions to the advancement of the profession of environmental and resource economics.

The Community Engaged Scholar Award recognizes faculty members who have demonstrated engaged scholarship that has impacted communities. Community Engaged Scholars have made significant contribution to Ohio State's culture of engagement, further establishing and strengthening the institution's commitment to supporting communities.

Congratulations to Darryl B. Hood, professor of environmental sciences in the College of Public Health at The Ohio State University, for winning the 2022 Ruth C. Bailey Award for Multicultural Engagement.

Bhavik Bakshi, Richard M. Morrow Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, has earned The Ohio State University 2022 Distinguished Scholar Award in recognition of decades of research leadership. Senior leadership in the Enterprise for Research, Innovation and Knowledge surprised Bakshi with the honor at a recent Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering faculty meeting.

Congratulations to Harvey Miller, professor in Geography, director of the Center for Urban and Regional Analysis, and SI faculty advisory board member. He has been named one of the 2021 class of Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

Congratulations to Brian Roe, the Fred N. VanBuren Professor of Farm Management in the Department of Agricultural, Environmental and Development Economics, who has been selected as a 2022 Fellow by the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA), the association’s highest honor.

Congratulations to Xiaoxue Wang, an assistant professor in the William G. Lowrie Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, has earned the Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award from Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) in recognition of her research accomplishments and career potential.  

Assistant Professor Andre Carrel has received a five-year Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The $655,000 grant will support his research on urban travel behavior with the goal of incorporating a richer understanding of behavioral dynamics and long-term lifestyle shifts in traveler choice models.

Congratulations to Dr. Katrina Cornish who was awarded the 2021 Senior Faculty Researcher of the Year Award. The CFAES Distinguished Senior Faculty Research Award honors academic, disciplinary, and professional excellence in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.

Congratulations to Judit Puskas, food, agricultural and biological engineering and SI core faculty, for being a finalist for the Ohio State Innovator of the Year award, for her research in integrating breast cancer treatment and diagnosis with reconstruction.
