The Translational Data Analytics Institute (TDAI), Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center and Sustainability Institute are now accepting proposals for two separate funding opportunities.

First, the Climate Analytics Research Pilot Awards provide up to $50,000 plus in-kind support for big data-enabled projects related to climate that have the potential to compete for extramural funding as a next step. Required letters of intent are due December 15, 2022.  Full proposals are due January 17, 2023.

These pilot awards are part of TDAI’s wider effort to support compelling new team science, scholarship and creative expression with funding for direct costs as well as in-kind resources, services and other benefits.

Second, Climate Change Proposal Development Grants support proposal development for extramural opportunities related to climate change and sustainability. These grants will support two to five proposals, with individual award amounts expected to range from $5,000 to $25,000, depending on the size and complexity of the proposal. The application deadline is rolling through June 30, 2023 until annual funding is exhausted.

These proposal development grants are part of the campus-wide Interdisciplinary Research Enabling Initiative which intends to advance interdisciplinary science, scholarship and creative expression that addresses pressing societal challenges.

“Faculty and researchers across Ohio State are committed to advancing climate solutions,” said Sustainability Institute Faculty Director and Distinguished Professor of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences in Economics & Sustainability Elena Irwin. “These funding opportunities provide additional tools and resources for collaboration towards higher achievements than what they might access on their own.”
