Sustainability Institute affiliated faculty have access to a student Research Experience Program and Student Subject Pool. This is a common method of free data collection enabled by participating students volunteering for research studies in exchange for extra credit in their classes.
The program is offered by the Environmental and Social Sustainability Lab within the School of Environment and Natural Resources.
The pool can be utilized as resource for researcher and/or instructors. For more information on how to leverage this program as part of a project, please contact Ellen Eilers, Environmental & Social Sustainability Lab Manager.
Examples
Dr. Jordan Clark has used the subject pool to both give his classes the opportunity to gain research experience plus extra credit and added an in-person experiment, which led to a publication.
“The ESSREP program was integral to my undergraduate research success. With ESSREP I was able to obtain survey responses from hundreds of students who in turn received academic credit for their time. I would highly recommend using the program if you want student engagement and involvement in your research.”
