Research conducted by Harvey Miller, Center for Urban and Regional Analysis (CURA) director and Sustainability Institute affiliated faculty member, and Luyu Liu, a geography Ph.D. student, was published in the June 2020 edition of SAGE journals

Urban Big Data creates new opportunities to understand transportation within cities. Miller and Liu assessed the risk of missing bus route transfers and the consequent time penalties due to delays using data information from the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA). The results demonstrate the effectiveness of schedules and real-time vehicle location data, which can guide planning and decision making that can improve on-time performance.
