Buckeye Bridge Lecture Series: Smart Cities

Hear from Rodolpho Feijo, the Head of Foreign Affairs in Curitiba, Brazil (Sister City of Columbus) on the topic of Smart Cities. The presentation will highlight the case of the City of Curitiba and its history of innovation in urban policies. It will address the role of cities in the world and how city diplomacy can be best used to promote human development in urban centers. Rodolpho will also give examples of how Curitiba uses urban intelligence to improve life of its citizens. The lecture will also address the challenges of implementing innovative public policies in developing countries, observing how international relations can be used as a tool to promote human development. Rodolpho will explain the path of Curitiba on becoming a smart city, looking into Curitiba's strategy to implement innovation policies throughout the last decades. Additionally, the talk will focus on how Curitiba fought COVID-19 and the implications of the pandemic in the city's policies.
